Updating Task Status

This page explains how to update the status of a task, allowing you to mark tasks as complete or reopen them as needed.

In the task list

The task list has a checkbox you can use to mark tasks as complete.

Marking a Task as Complete

To mark a task as complete, follow these steps:
Navigate to the project or task list where the task is located.
Locate the specific task you wish to mark as complete.
On the left side of the task row, you will see a checkbox.
Click the checkbox. The task's status will immediately update to "Closed", and the checkbox will show a checked state.

Marking a Task as Open

To mark a task as open, follow these steps:
Navigate to the project or task list where the task is located.
Locate the specific task you wish to mark as open. This task will have a checked checkbox indicating it is currently "Closed".
Click the checkbox. The task's status will immediately update to "Open", and the checkbox will return to an unchecked state.

In the task details panel

    Open the Task Details Panel:
  • Click on any task from a task list or project view. This action will open the task details panel on the right side of your screen.
    Locate the Status Section:
  • Within the task details panel, scroll down until you find the section labeled "Status".
    Change the Task Status:
  • Inside the "Status" section, you will see a dropdown menu.
  • Click on this dropdown menu.
  • Select either "Open" or "Closed" from the available options to update the task's status. The change will be applied immediately.

What happens to closed tasks?

By default, when a task is marked as "Closed", it will no longer appear in the standard task views. This helps to keep your active task lists focused on tasks that are still in progress. However, you can easily adjust your view to include closed tasks using the filter options.

How Closed Tasks Affect Task Views

When a task's status is changed to "Closed", the system automatically filters it out from the default task views. This means that in your main task lists, Kanban boards, timeline views, and calendar views, you will primarily see tasks that are "Open".

Viewing Closed Tasks

To view tasks that have been closed, you need to apply a filter:
Locate the Filter Button: On your task view page, find and click the Filter Button. This is at the top right of the page.
Open the Filter Popup: Clicking the Filter Button will open the "Tasks Filter Popup".
Adjust Task Status Filter: Within the popup, locate the filter option for "Status".
Select "Closed" or "Open": This will show only tasks with the relevant status.
Apply the Filter: After selecting your desired status, click the Apply Filter Button (or similar confirmation button) within the popup.
Once the filter is applied, the task view will refresh to display tasks that match your selected status, including closed tasks if you chose "Closed" or "Open".
