Direct Messages (DMs) provide a private and focused way to communicate with specific individuals or small groups, separate from broader project discussions.
DMs function similarly to projects, allowing for discussions, file sharing, and note-taking within a private context.
To initiate a new direct message:
Locate and click the "New DM" button. This button is found in the sidebar in the DM's section.
A "New DM Popup" will appear.
In the "Name" field, enter a descriptive title for your direct message. This will help you identify the conversation later.
In the "Add people..." multi-dropdown, select the individuals you wish to include in this direct message. You can add multiple users.
Once you have named your DM and added the participants, click the "Create DM" button.
The system will create the new DM, and you will be automatically navigated to its discussion page, ready to start communicating.
- : Type your message in the rich text editor at the bottom of the DM discussion page and click the "Send" button.
- : You can upload and share files directly within the DM. Look for the file upload options, similar to those in project discussions.
- : DMs also support note-taking, allowing you to keep track of important information or decisions within the private conversation.
- : To see a list of all your direct messages, click the "View all DMs" button. This will open the "DMs List Popup," where you can see all your active DMs.
- : If you need to remove a participant from a DM:
Open the DM you wish to modify.
Locate the option to "Edit DM" which is at the top right of the discussion.
Within the edit interface, you will see a list of participants. Click the "Remove" icon next to the name of the person you want to remove.
A confirmation message will appear, indicating that the user has been removed from the DM.
- : If a direct message is no longer needed, you can delete it:
Open the DM you wish to delete.
Locate the "Delete DM" button, typically found within the DM's settings or options.
A "Delete DM Popup" will appear, asking for confirmation.
Click the "Delete DM" button within the popup to confirm.
The DM will be permanently deleted, and you will be redirected to your projects page.
