Task followers are individuals who need to stay informed about the progress and updates of a specific task without being directly responsible for its completion.
They are not assigned to perform the task but have an interest in its status.
This is useful for:
- Project managers, clients, or other team members who need to monitor a task's progress without actively working on it.
- Ensuring that relevant parties are automatically updated on key developments, discussions, or changes related to a task.
- Providing a way for supervisors or team leads to keep an eye on critical tasks without being in the critical path of execution.
When you are added as a task follower:
- You will receive notifications about significant updates or changes to the task. This includes, but is not limited to, changes in status, new comments, or file attachments.
- You will have visibility into the task's details, including its description, due dates, assigned people, and any discussions or files associated with it.
- You are not directly responsible for completing the task. Your role is to observe and stay informed.
- The primary benefit is that you remain in the loop regarding the task's lifecycle without needing to actively check its status or be involved in its day-to-day execution.
Follow these steps to add followers to a task:
- First, go to the specific project that contains the task you want to add followers to.
- Locate the task within the project's task list or chosen task view (e.g., List, Kanban, or Calendar view).
- On the task, find and click the "Add Followers" button. This action will open a dedicated panel or popup specifically designed for adding people to follow the task.
- Within the "Add Followers" panel, you will see a list of available team members and clients.
- Select the individuals you want to add as followers to the task. You can select a single person or multiple people.
- After you have selected all the desired individuals, click the "Add" or "Save" button within the panel.
- A confirmation message will appear, indicating that the person or people have been successfully added as task followers.
- The names or profile pictures of the newly added followers will now appear associated with the task.
