Using Project Discussions

Project Discussions are a central place for communication and collaboration within your projects.
They allow you to exchange messages, share files, and manage tasks related to specific topics, keeping all conversations organized and easily accessible.
This guide will walk you through how to effectively use Project Discussions to communicate with your team and clients.

Creating a New Discussion

To initiate a new discussion within a project:
    Navigate to the project where you want to create a discussion.
    Locate and click the "Create New Discussion" button in the right hand side bar.
    A form will appear. In the "Name" field, enter a clear and descriptive title for your discussion.
    Choose the privacy setting for your discussion from the "Set the privacy..." dropdown:
  • All Project People: This option makes the discussion visible and accessible to everyone who is part of the project.
  • Invited People Only: This option restricts the discussion's visibility to only the specific individuals you invite.
    After filling in the details and selecting privacy, click the "Create" button to finalize and open your new discussion.

Participating in a Discussion

Once a discussion is created, you can actively participate by adding comments, replying to existing messages, reacting with emojis, and sharing files.

Adding a New Comment

    Within an open discussion, locate the new comment area, found at the bottom of the discussion feed.
    Type your message in the rich text editor. You can format your text as needed.
    To include an emoji in your comment, click the smiley face icon next to the input area.
    Once your message is ready, click the "Send" button to post your comment to the discussion.

Replying to a Comment

    Hover your mouse cursor over the specific comment you wish to reply to.
    A "Reply" icon will appear. Click this icon.
    A new input area will become available for you to compose your reply.
    Type your reply and click the "Send" button to post it.

Adding Reactions to a Comment

    Hover your mouse cursor over the comment you want to react to.
    An "Emoji Picker" icon will appear. Click this icon.
    A selection of emojis will be displayed. Click on the emoji you wish to use as a reaction to the comment.

Uploading Files to a Discussion

    Within the new comment area locate the file upload option. This is represented by a paperclip icon, click it.
    A popup window will appear, allowing you to select files from your device.
    You can rename the files before uploading by clicking on their names in the upload list.
    After selecting and optionally renaming your files, click the "Upload Files" button within the popup to add them to the discussion.
