Sharing files on projects and tasks is essential for collaboration.
Project.co provides a centralized system to upload, organize, and access files relevant to your work. You can see files in the main files area or within each project. This guide explains how to manage files effectively within your projects and tasks.
To view and manage files associated with a project or task:
Navigate to the specific project or task you wish to access files for.
Look for the "Files" tab. Click on it to open the file section for that project or task.
You will see files displayed in either a list or card view. You can switch between these views using the view toggle buttons, typically located near the top of the files section.
You can upload files directly to a project or task:
From the files section of your project or task you'll see a file drop area. You can drag and drop files here or you can click it to open your devices native file chooser.
For each file you upload, you can rename it by typing in the "Name this file..." input field.
You can choose to organize your files into folders. Use the "Choose a folder (optional)..." dropdown to select an existing folder or create a new one.
If you are uploading files to a general project file area, you may also need to select the specific project the files belong to from the "Choose a project..." dropdown.
Once you have selected your files and configured their settings, click the "Upload Files" button within the popup to complete the upload. A success message will confirm the upload.
Once files are uploaded, you can perform various actions:
- : Click on a file's name or image preview to open its detailed view page.
- : Hover over a file in the list or card view, and a "Download" icon will appear. Click this icon to download the file to your device.
- : You can create new folders to categorize your files. Look for an option to "Create New Folder" within the files sidebar. When creating a folder, you can name it and set its privacy (e.g., "All Project People" or "Invited People Only").
- : Use the "Search files..." input field to quickly find specific files by typing keywords.
- : Each file displays metadata such as its name, upload date, and the user who uploaded it. If a file is associated with a project or task, its name will be displayed. If there is an active discussion related to a file, a discussion icon will be visible.
