This page allows you to configure a custom email address and domain for sending emails from your account.
This means that emails sent from your account, such as project invitations or notifications, will appear to come from your own domain and email address, enhancing your brand's professionalism and recognition.
By default, emails from your account are sent from a generic Project.co email address. Setting up a custom sender email allows you to use your own domain (e.g., yourcompany.com
) and a specific email address (e.g., notifications@yourcompany.com
) as the sender. This requires verifying your domain to ensure email deliverability and authenticity. This field is where you enter the domain you wish to use for sending emails. This domain must be one that you own and control.
- Enter your desired email sending domain.
- The domain must be a valid web address, for example,
yourcompany.com
. - If a custom email sending domain is already set, a delete icon is visible next to the input field. Clicking this icon removes the custom email sending domain from your account.
- After entering your domain, click this button to save it. This initiates the process of adding your domain for email sending.
To ensure your custom sender emails are delivered correctly and are not marked as spam, you must add specific DNS (Domain Name System) records to your domain's settings. These records verify that you authorize Project.co to send emails on behalf of your domain. - Instructions will be provided for adding two types of DNS records:
- This record helps verify the authenticity of your emails and prevents spoofing.
- This record specifies where bounced emails should be sent, improving deliverability.
- After adding the DKIM record to your domain's DNS, click this button to verify that the record has been correctly set up. If the record is not yet verified, a message will indicate that you should try again in an hour.
- After adding the Return Path record to your domain's DNS, click this button to verify that the record has been correctly set up. If the record is not yet verified, a message will indicate that you should try again in an hour.
Once your domain is verified, you can specify the sender name and email address that will appear on your outgoing emails.
- This field allows you to set the name that recipients will see as the sender of your emails (e.g., "Your Company Name").
- Enter the desired sender name.
- The sender name can be up to 200 characters long.
- This field allows you to specify the email address from which your emails will be sent (e.g.,
notifications@yourcompany.com
). The domain part of this email address must match the custom domain you have set up. - Enter the desired email address.
- The email address can be up to 90 characters long for the local part (before the '@' symbol).
- After entering your sender name and email address, click this button to save these settings. Your custom sender email will become active only after both DKIM and Return Path domains are successfully verified.
The ability to use a custom sender email is a feature available on specific plans. If your current plan does not include this functionality, a message will indicate that you need to upgrade your plan to utilize this feature. Only Team Admins have permission to modify these settings.
