This guide will help you understand and manage the privacy settings for your tasks within your account.
Setting task privacy allows you to control who can see specific tasks, ensuring that sensitive or internal work remains hidden from clients while relevant updates are shared.
This helps maintain clear communication and manage client expectations effectively.
You can set task privacy when you create a new task, or you can adjust it for an existing task.
To change the privacy settings for a task that has already been created:
: Navigate to the project or task list where your task is located. Click on the task you wish to modify. This will open a detailed panel on the right side of your screen, displaying all the task's information.
: Within this task details panel, scroll down until you find the "Privacy" section.
:
- In the "Privacy" section, you will see an option labeled "Visible to Clients".
- If this option has a checkmark, the task is currently visible to your clients.
- If you want to hide the task from clients, click the checkmark to remove it.
- If you want to make a hidden task visible to clients, click the empty box to add a checkmark.
:
- Below the "Visible to Clients" option, you will find an option labeled "Visible to External".
- This setting controls whether the task is visible to external users who are not clients but may have specific access.
- Click the checkmark to toggle visibility for external users on or off, similar to the "Visible to Clients" setting.
: Any changes you make to the privacy settings are automatically saved. You can close the task details panel once you have set the desired privacy.
When you create a new task, its privacy settings are initially determined by your user role. For example, if you are a client, tasks you create might automatically be set as "Visible to Clients".
If you need to change these default privacy settings for a newly created task, follow the steps for "Adjusting Privacy for an Existing Task" immediately after creating the task. The task details panel will open automatically, allowing you to make any necessary adjustments to its visibility.
